Removal of cerium ions by Amino Cyclohexyl Phosphonic Acid (ACHPA) intercalated into layered double hydroxide (Ni/Al-LDH)

Amino phosphonic acids are good heavy metal extractants for liquid–liquid extraction, but this method requires the use of an organic solvent, which is itself a pollutant. The incorporation these in solid supports gave us opportunity to find solution problem. synthesis new material by Amino-Cyclo-Hexyl Phosphonic Acid into interlayer space Ni/Al-LDH, designated as Ni/Al-ACHPA, was carried out coprecipitation and anion exchange. hybrid characterised FTIR, XRD BET. results obtained show that ACHPA well intercalated LDH. adsorption performance towards ions Cerium Ce+3, has been investigated under different parameters. Under optimal conditions, where highest recovery (75%) at pH 6 using 0.1 g adsorbent (Ni/Al-ACHPA) less than 30 min agitation. modelling kinetics indicate Ce+3 process mechanism fitted pseudo-second order equation with high regression coefficient (R2 = 99%) isotherms were fitting Freundlich isotherm model.
